Kerlan Memorial/Ezra Jack Keats Fellowship. An award of $4,000 is provided to a talented writer and/or illustrator of children’s books, chosen annually, who wishes to use the Kerlan Collection for the furtherance of his or her artistic development.
MacDowell/Ezra Jack Keats Fellowship. This Fellowship was established by the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation in 2023 to support the residencies of children’s book authors and illustrators.
Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) Ezra Jack Keats Collegiate Bookmaking Competition. MICA juniors, seniors, and graduate students are invited to write, illustrate, and manufacture an original 32-page black and white picture book dummy, with five single or double page spreads of completed color artwork, based on a topic of their choice. Three prizes are awarded annually: a 1st place prize totaling $4,000 and two 2nd place prizes at $1000 each.
The School Art League/Ezra Jack Keats Foundation Prize for Illustration. Two awards given annually, to graduating high school seniors from underserved communities who are continuing their art education with a focus on illustration.

Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI)/Ezra Jack Keats Prize for Illustration. An “as yet to be published” illustrator from the BIPOC community is chosen annually to receive a cash prize of $3,500, used to advance their career.

Ezra Jack Keats/Janina Domanska Research Fellowship Program
Grants up to $1600 may be made to applicants of any discipline who engage in projects which require substantial use of the de Grummond Collection. Awards will be based upon the applicant’s scholarly qualifications, the merits of the proposal submitted, and the appropriateness of the proposal to the resources of the de Grummond Collection.
