A First Grade’s Snowy Day

A First Grade’s Snowy Day
Stanley Steele, Principal
Pocantico Hills School
Sleepy Hollow, New York

A 12-inch snowfall inspired the first-graders in Westchester County, New York, to create their own version of The Snowy Day. Each student contributed a sentence and an illustration, and the completed assignment was presented as a slideshow on the school website.

The program was so successful that, for over 10 years, every new class of first-graders added a project of its own to the site—all winter-themed stories, lessons, puzzles and games. From one Mini-Grant, a wonderful online teaching tool!
